This page explains what Behind the Venue does with the personal information you give us. We keep it short, because we do very little with your data.

Who we are

Behind the Venue provides venue atmosphere consulting. For anything about your data, contact us at craig@behindthevenue.co.uk. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Behind the Venue is the “data controller” for the information described here.

What we collect

When you fill in the enquiry form on this site, we collect the details you enter: your name and email address, and, if you choose to add them, your venue name, your town or city, and your message. That is all. We do not ask for payment details on this site, and there is no account to create.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

We use these details for one purpose: to reply to your enquiry and, if you go ahead, to provide the service you have asked about. Under UK GDPR our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, together with our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us. We do not use your details for marketing unless you ask us to, and we never sell them.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or share your information with anyone for their own use. A small number of service providers process it on our behalf so the site can work: our website host and form provider (Netlify) receives your form submission, and our email provider handles our correspondence with you. They act on our instructions only.

How long we keep it

We keep your enquiry for as long as we need it to deal with your request and, if you become a client, for as long as we are working together and a reasonable period afterwards for our records. When we no longer need it, we delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not use analytics that identify you. To display its typeface, the site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google to fetch them. This is a standard technical request, and we do not receive any personal data from it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

• give you a copy of the information we hold about you;
• correct anything that is wrong;
• delete it; or
• stop using it.

To do any of these, email craig@behindthevenue.co.uk and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
